March 30, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Arron Wood sent me his latest menu helmet set, which is the F1 2000 version, which can obviously be found at the F1 2000 page ;)

At The Programme Covers Project thanks to Basil Stafford, I've added several covers from Adelaide, seasons 1990, '94 (this existed here before, but had a barcode sticker on it) and '95.

March 28, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I've updated the F1 2000 page with JR Softwares carset, Shaun Rose Melbourne track and Matti Laitinen and James Knopp's track pack. I've also updated the CART 2000 page with the results from Miami, where Max Papis won the first race of the season.

At The Programme Covers Project I've added that Snetterton cover I spoke about in yesterdays update, from the East Anglian Trophy Day event in 1997. At the "Special Covers" I added more Drag racing season guide programme covers from seasons 1992, '93 and '95. I've made a new page for some more Drag racing covers from Atlanta Dragway seasons 1997 and '99 thanks to James Pernikoff. Also ... I added a Crystal Palace 1967 cover and Adelaide 1989 cover thanks to Pete Allam and Basil Stafford.

March 27, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

At The Programme Covers Project I've added a 1994 FIA Season Review video cover and 3 Drag Racing season guide covers to the "Special Covers" page. To come soon is a Snetterton cover form trophy day in 1997 (it would've been added today, but the scan didn't work properly).

March 26, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

At this site, I updated the 2000 F1 page with the results from Brazil, following Michael Schumacher's great tactical victory. At The Programme Covers Project I've added more Watkins Glen programme covers, from seasons 1991, '92, '93 and '98 thanks to James Pernikoff. I've also resplit the Watkins Glen section again, this time into 3 sections this time.

March 24, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Les Danyluk has been working hard on his Westwood track, I've been downloading the pre-release versions, and it's looking and driving good (I'm yet to see the latest pre-release). Here are some screenshots:

March 23, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

At The Programme Covers Project, I've added another recent cover, from the Daytona 500, 2000 thanks to Dave Miller and Pete Allam sent me a Goodwood 1966 cover, the last race event held at Goodwood until the revival of speed in 1998. Both contributors have submitted many other covers, for which I'm most grateful. I've also split the Watkins Glen section into two pages, being split at 1967. I did that due to long loading times, pointed out by James.

March 22, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Thanks to Jim Pernikoff yet again, at The Programme Covers Project I've added another cover: Sebring 2000, where the race was only held 4 days ago - how about that for service(!)?

At The Entry Lists Project I've changed the layout as I said I would yesterday, and I also added two Watkins Glen, two Montreal and a Meadowlands cover thanks to James Pernikoff. This was the *very*last* update I will make, I only made it because I was changing the layout anyway, and James had already sent me the lists, so I felt obliged to upload them. Any more sent (even from James!) will *not* be added.

March 21, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

And yet again (no surprises!) there are no updates here, but to The GP2 Goes Classic Project I've added a Montreal page to the research info section, where there is a great image of the west side of the 1984 circuit and lots of text information, provided by James Pernikoff; I've also added Paul Josephson's Clermont-Ferrand trackmap.

Thanks to Jim Pernikoff yet again, I've added another batch of covers from his collection to The Programme Covers Project; Laguna Seca Monterey Historics, 1994; Detroit 1987, '88; from David Schutter I've added several Monaco covers; 1995, '96, '97 (x2) including a historic Grand Prix cars race cover. And from Mikael Olsson, I've added another video cover to the "Special Covers", it's the FIA F1 Review video from 1985. I also updated The Entry Lists Project for what will definatly be the last time - James sent me a Watkins Glen 1976 entry list as well as all those covers.

March 19, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No updates here ... again, but thanks to Jim Pernikoff yet again, I've updated The Programme Covers Project with several new covers; Long Beach 1979; Road Atlanta 1997, '98; Meadowlands 1988 and Seattle 1992. Jim will be sending me even more covers in the next few days, including some Drag racing ones, hopefully.

March 18, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Again, no update here, apart from fixing a mistake in the 1996 F1 page, which claimed Schumacher drove for Benetton in that year, when in fact, of course, he drove for Ferrari, thanks to Edward Foster for noticing that.

To The Programme Covers Project thanks to Jim Pernikoff again, I've added a Montreal cover from the 1990 F1 season, thanks to William Dale Jnr, I've added a "Special Cover", it's a 1991 F1 Review video cover, and to the Adelaide page I've added the 1994 F1 race cover. And Tim ("tconn66") continues his contributions to the project with another 8 Watkins Glen covers from seasons 1968 (x2), '69, '70, '71, '72 (x2) and '73, from Transam and Sportscar races.

March 15, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No update here, but to one of my other projects, The Programme Covers Project I've added an Montreal from 1984, thanks to Jim Pernikoff - he informs me he's actually in the crowd on the grandstand!

March 14, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

John Moncreiff has sent me his latest 2000 carshape pack, which now includes all the teams (Arrows and Minardi have been added this version) and an updated helmet and new shadow - they all look great.

At The Programme Covers Project, thanks to Tim ("tconn66") I've added many more Watkins Glen covers, mainly from CanAm from seasons; 1969, '70, '71, '72 (x2), '73, '74, '75, '76, '77, '78, '79 (x2), '80 (x2) and '81 (x2).

March 13, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Bob sent me another version of Clermont-Ferrand, which fixes a slight bug on the mountain as you turn into turn 1, if you downloaded the first version, click here for the new files, if you've not downloaded it yet, go do so at the 1972 page. I've also added John Moncreiff's 1967 cockpit and Ignaso Carvo's Montjuich track to the 1969, '71, '73, and '75 pages, which were both missed out (well spotted, Martijn!).

At The Programme Covers Project, Don, continuing his long standing contributions to the project has sent me another four covers from Long Beach, seasons 1993, '94, '95, '97. John (referred here by Don) has sent me a missing Mosport cover, season 1971. Thanks to Don and John.

P.S. Can "tconn" please get in contact with me asap - the cover that were sent to me a few days ago have been lost (due to a problem with Outlook) so could they be sent again for adding.

March 12, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Ok, guess what(!)? Clermont-Ferrand is released! :) It's really fantastic, and Bob has put a *lot* of work into it, and the result is quite stunning. It's available at the 1972 page. It should've actually been released 1 or 2 days before now, but I had problems with my computer, that's why it was delayed a bit (blame Bill Gates!) - I still managed to beat GrandPrix2.com even with the problem though! ;) There are also some programme covers to come in the next few days, they should've also been added earlier. If "tconn" is reading, please e-mail me, asap - your covers went missing while I had the problem (it was Outlook related). I've also updated the 2000 page with the details of the first race of the F1 season, which was won by Michael Schumacher.

March 7, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

There isn't much longer to wait for Clermont-Ferrand, Bob informs me it will be released to the "public" by the weekend, since there's only some CC fine tuning (making them more competitive). Anyway, just to give you a final taster of the wonderful track, here are 9 more screenshots of the track, which show the improved camera angles, and other improvements made since the last pre-release. I've added a new 1988 menu helmet set made by Arron Wood, keeping up with his high standard of art work (they're really great!).

At The Programme Covers Project I've added a 1986 FIA F1 Review video cover to the "Special Covers" page, it comes thanks to Mikael Olsson again.

P.S. If any other authors of [good quality] historic tracks would like screenshots of their track placed here in advance of the final release, then please feel free to e-mail me the track for me to make them (and get a little preview!) or, if you don't want me to have a test drive, just send the screenshots, and I'll post them here.

March 4, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Here I've added a 1966 cockpit representing the BRM, made by Martijn Haans. Nice graphics and layouts, the quality of his other work. He's put several other GP2 creations on hold for the time being, but he'll be back soon I'm sure.

At The Programme Covers Project I've added FIA F1 Review video covers, from seasons; 1981, '82, '83 and '84 plus, the cover of the Niki Lauda Story video. They all come thanks to Mikael Olsson; They can all be found at the Special Covers page. David Miller also sent me a Trenton cover from 1976 continuing his contributions to the project.

March 3, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

At The Programme Covers Project, as promised, I've added my FIA F1 Review season video covers. They can all be found at the "Special Covers" page. They're from seasons; 1995, '96, '97, '98 and '99 (I scanned the '94 one, but it was corrupt, so I'll add that sometime next week).

March 1, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

At The Programme Covers Project, thanks to "tconn66" I've added a lot of new covers from; Watkins Glen 1961 (x2), '62 (x2), '63 (x2), '64 (x2), '65 (x2), '66 (x2), '67 (x2); Montreal 1989, Mosport 1974 and Indianapolis 1965. Coming in the next few days to the "Special Covers" page is covers of the official FIA F1 Review videos. I'm going to be scanning 1994, '95, '96, '97, '98 and 1999 in the next couple of days and the 1981, '82, '83 and '84 covers from Mikael Olsson, so look out for those.

If you have any programme covers that aren't already here, then please send them to me, in jpeg about 600 x 300. The same goes for any video covers. A while ago, someone asked me about the official race posters by the FIA - not the programme guides, but the big posters. So if any people have those, or know where to get them from (online), then please let me know - thanks. Btw, Martijn Haans will be sending me a 1966 BRM cockpit soon (probably tonight, but it won't make tonights update).

February 28, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

David Schutter suggested that I add his 1993, 1995, (these were both submitted using the URL Submission page, why not do the same, it's simple and quick) and 2000 menu helmet sets, so I've added them to the relevant pages. They're really quite good, the 2000 set even has the test drivers, too. David also sent me his 1996 Melbourne GP circuit. At the CART 1996 page, I've added a new carset, made by D.B. Gonzales, Pat Painter, Patrick Augusto-Lopes and Christian Culioli.

February 27, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

After a lot of screenshots being added, I've finally got some files to add :) Arron Wood (hey, I spelt his name right this time!) sent me another of his great menu helmet packs, this time, season 1987 and as he says "they always seem to get better..." well worth a download.

At The Programme Covers Project I've created a new section for this project: a "Special Covers" page. This is where covers related to racing can be added, but are not of actual race events. The first addition to this page is from Don, who has sent me a lot of covers in the past, so thanks very much for that, it's from the old F1 movie "Grand Prix" (there is a front and back cover). So if anyone has any such covers, please send them to me, and they'll surely be added.

February 23, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Still no files to add here, but Les Danyluk (FatRat) sent me some screenshots of his Westwood track, that he's been working hard on over the last few months, I've not driven it, so I can't say for sure what it's like, but from these screenshots, it's looking pretty nice. Now there won't actually be a place for Westwood here, but what I will probably do, is to add a special section here, which will contain 5 or 6 historic tracks that are very good, but have no direct place here.

February 21, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Since there's nothing else to add, I thought I'd make another few screenshots of Clermont-Ferrand (the track really is *great*). You guys sure will be pleased when you drive around this track, even if it's only for a few corners! :)

February 20, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Quite a while since the last update here, and this isn't really one as such. Bob Culver sent me a preview of his latest track: Clermont-Ferrand. I've had a drive of it, and I'm most impressed, for those of you who liked Reims, I'm sure this track will keep you entertained just as well. I'm not sure how long till a full release, but there don't appear to be many things to do, some graphics, bug fixing, etc. Anyway, so as to give you something to look forward to, here are 9 screenshots of the track (a nice exclusive to The GP2 History Project).

Philip Woodward also sent me some news of a track that he is working on. It's the Crystal Palace circuit which was used in between 1953 and 1972. This should be released in a couple of months.

February 12, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

There should've been an update yesterday really, but it was my birthday, and I couldn't be bothered to tell you the truth so went out and had a great night. Back to GP2: I've added John Moncrieff's latest carshape pack; for 2000, featuring the McLaren, Ferrari, Williams, Jordan, BAR, Benetton, Jaguar and Sauber. Also added is a new 2000 carset from Juha Vitala.

Over at The Programme Covers Project I've added a new programme cover from a strange racing league in America, from Oswego, that's thanks to Johnny Strothard (he'll be sending me some Mosport covers sometime soon as well).

February 10, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

First update to *this* site for a while! I've added Augusto Dewey's 1981 Buenos Aires circuit that I said was being released soon in yesterdays update. It's a pretty nice track, and drives quite well thanks to my CC-Line! ;)

February 9, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

To The Programme Covers Project I've added covers from; Ardmore 1958, '59, '60, '61, '62; Pukekohe 1966 thanks to Bruce Sergent (I've also added a link to his New Zeland Motor Racing site in the links section of this site).

P.S. Augusto Dewey told me he'll finish his Buenos Aires (Argentina) circuit on Thursday, so make sure you come back to check that out! :) Martijn Haans told me he *might* be able to finish his 1963 carshape and carsets next weekend. So those things are to be added soon! :)

February 8, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

  To The Programme Covers Project I've added covers from; Riverside International Raceway 1973, '75, '76, '77, '78, '79 (x2), '80 (x2), '81 (x2), '82 (x2), '83 (x2), '85 thanks to Don Hodgdon; Silverstone 1960, '63; Monte Carlo 1974 thanks to David Beard. I'm most grateful for all of them.

February 7, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

To The Programme Covers Project I've added covers from; Laguna Seca 1979, '83, '84, '86, '87, '89, '91, '91; Long Beach 1984, '85, '86, '87, '88, '89, '90, '91, '92, '98, '99; Fontana 1997 (x2), '98, '99; Lime Rock Park 1988; Pikes Peak 1980; Sears Point 1978, '80; Ontario 1974, '79, '80 (x2). Those all come thanks to Don Hodgdon (I'm really most grateful). I'll be adding another 16 covers of Riverside in the next couple of days (again, thanks to Don) and two Silverstone and a Monaco cover thanks to David. So they're to look forward to! :)

February 2, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I've now finished that Buenos Aires CC-Line for Augusto Dewey, so that side of things is ready for releasing, but I believe he's still got a few things to do on it.

To The Programme Covers Project I've added covers from; Long Beach 1976, '78, '80, '81 (better scan), '82, '83 and Phoenix 1991. All those come thanks to Don Hodgdon. He's got another 40 - 50 programmes from Sports car, Nascar, CART and other series, so he's scanning them sometime, and they'll be added soon! :) I've also added Imola 1986, which I forgot to add in yesterdays update (thanks Lomo!).

February 1, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No updates here, but to The Programme Covers Project I've added covers from; Brescia 1921, Monza 1993, '96, '98, Hockenheim 1983, San Marino 1987, '88, '89. Those all come thanks to Lomo Nero and Andrew Axe. Btw, the Brescia cover there is probably the oldest one in the collection! :)

Just a little bit of news for you: I've just finished making another CC-Line for David Richards, it's for the Canbera circuit. I advice you to check out his ATCC and WTCC sites, which are racing leagues, but contain many, many unreleased (and some very good) all Australian and New Zealand tracks. I'll be finishing a CC-Line for Augusto Dewey, his Buenos Aires track in the next few days, so look out for that.

January 25, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Arron's been busy! He's released another menu helmet set, this time it's from 1994, so go download that! Btw, I've been told by Arron that his name is "Wood" not "Woods" as I've been calling him for all this time, so sorry about that, Arron! :) As promised, those new programme covers are available from The Programme Covers Project. The new covers are; '49 New York, 1957 Martinsville, 1965 and 1969 NC Motor Speedway and also a 1977 Darlington cover.

January 24, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Arron Woods sent me a new menu helmet set, which he states is his "best yet", and I would agree that it's very good (Arron is renowned for making the best menu helmets), it's for the 1986 season, and will be finishing a 1987 and 1988 set soon. A little delayed (because I'm not sure which circuits the covers are from) the new programme covers from Chuck will not be added until tomorrow at the quickest (it depends on when he replies ...).

January 23, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No updates here today, but if you haven't already done so, I would strongly recommend you download Arron Wood's Kyalami pack (pack = contains 4 season versions). Anyway, at The Programme Covers Project I've added 13 Mosport programme covers between 1979 and 1983, all thanks to Johnny Strothard and a 1975 Silverstone cover thanks to R.C.E. Soethoudt. There will be another update made to the programme covers site either later on today or tomorrow.

January 19, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Derek Hicks has sent me an updated Nurburgring track which has improved scenery and textures, the track can be downloaded from either the 1999 or 2000 page. Arron Woods has finished his Kyalami track, so I've added that to the seasons 1979 - 1985 (Arron assures me his Brands Hatch 1985/'86 will be coming soon, too!). And a little later on, I'll add Martijn Haans 1960 carset and carshape when he sends them to me. Over at The Programme Covers Project I added a new Le Mans cover from 1967 thanks to "chuck" - he'll be sending me many Nascar covers soon, too, all from 1949 onwards! :)

January 17, 2000: news from Malcolm Mitchell

Okay, no updates for almost a week. That's because nothing has been released at any other sites of any relation to GP2HIST, and no files have been sent to me. I'm told though that Kyalami, by Arron Woods is going to be released soon, but I've not checked with Arron, so I'm not sure! I'm going to finish the CC-Line for Augusto Dewey's Buenos Aires in one or two weeks now, thanks to Addie Walti for some help ... Just keeping you posted :)

January 11, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I've updated the progress report of The "Classic Ultima" Track Project, which just gives a little information on what we're doing to the track right now; and at The Programme Covers Project I've added 4 new covers to the Mexico City page, from seasons 1986, '90, '91 and '92, they're all thanks to Ernesto Diaz.

January 10, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing added here, but to The Programme Covers Project I've added covers to; Silverstone, Clermont-Ferrand, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch, Goodwood. Those come thanks to Peter Allam (this is his last batch for a while). Btw, there are 380 covers here at my last count, which is quite impressive, I think you'll agree :) Also, I've just done a little site management and changed the layout of the "covers library" to make it easier to navigate, and added the images for click-through links to other pages of the site, again just making it easier to navigate.

January 7, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

The first update of the new millenium to The Programme Covers Project. I've added covers to; Silverstone, Crimmond, Oulton Park, Charter Hall, Snetterton, Reims, Ingliston, Goodwood and Aintree. Those come thanks to Peter Allam and Arron Wood.

January 4, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Richard Goiu has released an Monza circuit from 1972 - 1975 it's based on Gabriele Moschetto's 1999 Monza circuit, and it looks quite good. Augusto Dewey has released another version of his Las Vegas circuit, which replaces some bugs, and adds slight realism to it. I'm finishing off a CC-Line for Augusto's Buenos Aires track, and I should have it finished in a week or two, depending on how much free time I've got, so look forward to that soon. I'll soon have a some more news on Classic ultima soon, too, thanks to Mikael Olsson (who's been hard at work on it). Once I hear back form him, the team will be able to work on it, and we could be looking at a release in a few months :)

January 2, 2000: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Happy new year (better late than never ...)! I've only just about recovered two days on! No rest for the wicked - Martijn Haans has been working on his 1964 carsets and carshapes again, so they've been updated, and his now working on a 1963 set.

December 30, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Hope christmas was good! This is probably the last update of the millenium! Anyway, Mikael Olsson has released an Nazareth track, so that can be found at the CART 1999 and 2000 page. I've also added some tracks previously missed, like East London, Sebring and Le Mans to the 60's pages, the tracks I added are all made by Sergio Leonardi. Also, at The Programme Covers Project, I've added several covers from Crystal Palace, Goodwood and Aintree, thanks to Peter.

December 25, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No updates for 10 days: I thought I'd let everything build up for a christmas update! Hope everyones having/had a wonderful christmas. Now for the update: I've updated The Programme Covers Project with some Watkins Glen (seasons 1948 - 1960 & 1990) and Mosport (seasons 1977 - 1978) covers thanks to Tim Connelly and Johnny Strothard (he also pointed out a mistake at the Mosport page, which I'll correct soon!). Merry Christmas all!

December 15, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

And today, another Martijn: Martijn Keizer has updated his Zandvoort track, though this time, he's included a version of it in the 1951 - 1971 layout, so the track can be found at any of those seasons. Also, Peter L Kessler and Robin Day have updated their Jerez tracks. You can find updates of seasons 1986 - 1990 and 1994 - 1997. Please note that the one found at the 1994/7 page has a different layout to the other season ones! I've also changed some of the track listings around of tracks such as; Zandvoort, Watkins Glen, Jerez, Monaco, so that the listings are more accurate to their season. I shall continue altering the listings for a while, as I know there are a few tracks listed in the wrong seasons, and a couple that aren't listed at all.

December 14, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Martijn Haan has finished his 1961 carshape and carset, so I've added them both to the site listings. I've updated my menu backgrounds and they can now be found at the 1999 page, with ofcourse, the rest of the 1999 things. Duh!

December 13, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Well, nothing much, but Augusto has updated his Anderstorp track, which is for the season 1978, he's changed the heights, bumps and added some trees. I've also made some changes to some of the track listings here - so far I've only changed the Silverstone and Brands Hatch ones from 1970 onwards, I'll be changing more (obviously for the better) in the coming days, I'll let you know which tracks/seasons as I update them. Also, I've got a few treats coming in the new year at this site, and also some more things, which will be widely available, I hope, these might even involve Michaël Hompus, my old partner of this site. These plans are very hush hush though, for the time being.

P.S. Check out my GP2 - A Season Review, 1999. Yes, I know it's a little early (it gives me some time to add things I've missed, you see!).

December 8, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No update for a few days, there has been nothing to add related to this site, until Dan Chinnapen's Banked Monza (sorry I didn't release it sooner, but Dan sent my e-mail out later than GrandPrix2.com's ...) anyway, it's here now, but as it's strictly an ficticious track, it's only availible from this page (maybe Dan will take the chicanes away, so it can be listed?). I've also added a 1967 carset and carshape, made by Martijn Haans plus a new Suzuka 1999 track, by Derek Hicks, that can obviously be downloaded by the 1999, and 2000 pages.

December 3, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Martijn Haans has sent me an updated 1964 carshape, and a new 1968 carshape and carset. He's working on several other things, which he'll now be concentrating on, so they should arrive sometime soon. I've not made much more progress on the 1930's pages, I've just finished 1930 - 1935, I'll work on the others in the next few days, but still won't finish and upload for another 2 weeks (roughly) because I've got to add all the downloads to the listings, though I doubt there will be many relevant to those seasons!

December 1, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Well, first update in the run up to Christmas, and the celebration of a year of The GP2 History Project! Yes, it's one year old! :) Anyway, back to things that matter: I've added an updated Nürburgring track, by Derek Hicks, with a lot of help from Nic Prins. That can be found at the F1 1999 page.

November 30, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Exclusive for the time being! After all the hype surrounding Reims, it is finally here! Yes, Bob sent it to me early this morning, and so it I've added it to seasons 1953 - 1966. I'm sure Bob will accept all feedback, so long as it's constructive, if it is a criticism (which I seriously doubt). Martijn Haans has sent me another carshape: this time it is from 1934, but as there is no page for 1934 here (yet!) it'll only be linked to from here. I've not got any more pages encoded from 1930 - 1949, but soon they'll all be finished.
Just a note that if you downloaded Reims before about 7:30pm GMT tonight then you'll need to re-download it because Bob forgot to include a jad file, it's all there now :)

November 29, 1999: news from Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing added again so far, but I will be receiving a Autounion carshape, 1934 from Martijn Haans either tonight or tomorrow, so you've got that to look forward to. Now at the moment, there is on place for it here, because it is F1 1950 - 2000, but I'm in the process of making the 1930 - 1949 pages, I should have this done in one or two weeks, but for the time being, anything that I receive or download that fits into those years will just be linked here, and added to the proper listings at a later date. Martijn is also sending me some thin tyres which I will be modifying slightly, so they've got grooves in them, like they did, rather than slicks - they'll be able to be used from 1900 - 1962.

P.S. Bob's informed me the release of Reims may even be delayed until after the weekend. Why? Because things are being added/changed to make for even greater realism and driving.

November 28, 1999: news from Malcolm Mitchell

Okay, it looks like the release of Reims will be delayed by a couple of days or so. Bob's changing a few things, to make it even more realistic, like new textures, changed objects, etc. should be here soon though. I shouldn't have hyped it up so much, I spose ...

November 27, 1999: news from Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing added today either, but tomorrow, Reims will be availible for download, so be sure to come back for that! While on the subject of Reims, Bob agreed to me putting some screenshots of it on here, so here are a couple, plus one of the actual track, as a comparison.

There may be some more programme covers coming soon, there shouldn't be a problem, but I just want to get permission first, that'll make everyone happy. Meanwhile, you can check out the site where they can be found here and Les Danyluk's (Fat Rat's) Westwood page - the ultimate source of Westwood track information, in the run up to his creation of it for use in GP2.

November 26, 1999: news from Malcolm Mitchell

No files to add tonight (well, early evening, actually) so if anything appears later it'll have to be added tomorrow. I have a little news on the long awaited (well worth the wait, trust me!) Reims track by Bob Culver. After over a years worth of work on it, Bob's finally completed it, and the result is fantastic. I've never seen so much action from the CC's throughout the lap - always jostling for position, down the long straights, through the sweeping and tight corners, often 2 or 3 cars abreast, even through the tight corners, constantly fighting for position. The graphics, layout, etc. is great, too - it's really a great, exciting track! Expect it to be here at the weekend! Meanwhile, Dan Chinnapen has been working on his Monza track, with banking, from the 60's. I've not raced it yet, so I can't say too much about it, but from what I've seen it looks good. Here are some screenshots of it:

I've not posted information about this here, but I've made a few updates to The Programme Covers Project and the first update in almost a year to The Entry list Project so it might be nice to check them out!

November 22, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Finally, something to add here for a change! John Moncreiff's made an update (the finally update of 1999) to his legendary carshapes. Also, Fat Rat (Les Danyluk) sent me his latest cockpit: a 1950's one, which looks really quite good, check it out! Les also sent me a track; Kent Hills but I'm unsure of where it fits in on this site, so for the time being it's unlisted, but just click on the link, and you can download from this page only. This is a beta only, and there are bugs, but it is still a pretty nice track.

November 21, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

To The Programme Covers Project, I've added the last two batches of covers from Dave. Thanks to him, the collection has increased by about 100 covers, all from him. That's about a third of the total collection! Today, I've added 1990 - 1999 of Indianapolis covers.

November 16, 1999: update and news from Malcolm Mitchell

Things are a little bit slow in the "GP2-World", nothing of any great interest is being released of any relevance to this site. There are a few things being released soon though; Bob Culver's Reims track (long awaited!) should be finished in the next one or two weeks, Augusto Dewey and Arron Wood's Kyalami track will be released in about 3 weeks, and Augusto Dewey's solo project, Beunos Aires will be released when I complete the CC-Line for it when I've got the spare time (two or three weeks).

To The Programme Covers Project, I've added yet more covers, all from Indianapolis, again, thanks to Dave. They're; 1980 - 1989.

November 15, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

To The Programme Covers Project, I've totally changed the whole site layout, to make it a lot more user friendly. I hope you all like it - if there are any problems, please tell me. Btw, there will be more covers, thanks to Dave either later on, or tomorrow.

November 14, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

To this site, I've added an updated track to the CART 1994 page, the update is of Molson Vancouver Indy, with the 1994 layout (which is why it cannot be found at the 1996 - 1999 pages), the update is by Fat Rat. I believe he is going to be making a tribute track to Greg Moore in the near future, so do look out for that - all of his tracks are worth the download, and it's nice to see old faces keeping up appearances in the "GP2-World".

At The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project, thanks to Dave, once more, he's just delivering the final batch of covers, there are about 20 to go after todays update so he tells me. Today, I've added the first of the Indianapolis/Brickyard 400 lot; Indianapolis 1966, '70, '74, '75, '76, '77, '78, '79, '94, '95, '96, '97, '98, '99 (x2).

November 13, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

This morning, I've added 15 new covers to The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project, all thanks to Dave, again! He will also be sending me several others each day for the next week or so. Here is what's been added today, so far; Riverside 1986, '87; Richmond 1984, '85, '86, '87; Talladega 1984, '85, '87, '88, '89, '92, '98; Winchester 1990, '93.

November 11, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Sorry, there should've been an update two days ago, but I was unable to get onto my computers on Tuesday, and out all night last night. Anyway, I've added both a 1964 carshape and carset, both made by Martijn Haans, they're pretty good, well worth the download. Also, to The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project I've added some more covers, thanks to Dave. They're; Mid Ohio 1989; Meadowlands 1984, '85; Michigan 1989 (x2), '93. Dave's sending me some more hopefully later on tonight, so look out for those soon.

November 8, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Dave has sent me another batch of programme covers, to add to the online collection, newly added are; Le Mans 1984, Las Vegas 1997, Lakeside 1998, Laguna Seca 1995, IRP 1989, and Eldora 1995. Check them and the rest out here. Here I've added a season 2000 page to both the CART and BTCC sections.

November 7, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Again, nothing added here, but again, I've added more covers to The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project. They're all from Dave, and he's gonna send me another 70 odd covers over the next week! Here's what's been added today; Darlington 1985; Atlanta 1986; Charlotte 1985; ASA 1996; Eldora 1989, '93; Daytona 1997, '99; and Dover 1984, '87.

November 6, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing added here, so far today, but to The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project I've added some 27 programme covers, all thanks to Dave. They are from all different racing leagues, such as; CART, F1, USAC, etc. Here is what's added; Talladega 1988; Darlington 1966, '83, '89; Detroit 1956, '83; Caesar's Palace 1981, '82; Dover 1981 (x2), 1982 (x2), 1983 (x2); Long Beach 1981; Pocono 1978, '79, '80, '81 (x2), '82 (x3), '83 (x3); and Rockingham 1983. Where there is something like (x2) that means there are two covers from that year, because of different racing leagues going to each track each year. Dave will be sending me many, many more over the next few days, so look out for them (this will be the bigggest contribution to the project so far!).

November 1, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I hope you all had a happy hallowe'en! Mine was mixed; fun trick or treating (yes, perhaps I'm a little old for all that ...), the Grand Prix was good, but the CART race was devastating. I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Greg Moore - it's a great loss to the sport, and more importantly, to his family. There aren't the words to describe the feelings of all the fans in the world, who will all deerly miss this great racer. Visit http://www.cart.com/ to pay tribute. In the race at Fontana, Adrian Fernandez won the race, so I've updated the 1999 CART page with those results.

October 31, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

After Mika Hakkinen's championship winning race at Suzuka, I've updated the 1999 page with those results, and I've also added two updated tracks, both by Nic Prins, they are Hockenheim and Monza. That's about it for now, perhaps I'll have the results of the CART race tonight, if not, that'll be done tomorrow. Until then, happy hallowe'en.

October 30, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing added here, so far today, but I've made an udpate to The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project. I've added several new covers, thanks to Daniel, who sent me Montreal covers 1983, '85, '86, '88 and a Watkins Glen cover from 1953. Check them out. Something to add here soon, I hope.

October 26, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing much added today, just the latest version of both an Österreichring and A1-Ring tracks, both made by Nic Prins. They're both contained in the same set, but I've only added the zip to seasons 1977 - 1987 because there is already a good A1-Ring track availible, but previously, there wasn't a decent Österreichring.

October 24, 1999: update and news from Malcolm Mitchell

I've added Matti Laitinen's latest track - Indianapolis, for F1 2000. This is the best attempt at the track so far, with better detail than the other versions, with; the large grandstands and the tall score board, he's even tried to do the bricks on the start finish line. You can download it here. Some of you might have noticed Ian Hill released another version of his Avus track (1959) and may be wondering why it hasn't been added here? Well, that is because I was confused at what season it should be added to - now I know, so it has been added to the 1959 season.

I now know which season the Kyalami track that Augusto Dewey and Arron Wood (with my CC-Line) are working on is for; 1985, and will probably be added to 1967 - 1985 seasons. Augusto has now sent me another track to put a CC-Line onto - he's very busy right now! It is Argentina 1981, so the circuit it self is Beunos Aires, which is circuit 15 of the possible layouts for that circuit, when released, it'll be added to seasons 1974 - 1981.

October 21, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No files added, I just made a small update to the work in progress page, where I've added two new works, both from Richard Goniu; Hockenheim 1970 - 1985 and Monza 1972 - 1975. A little news about my latest CC-Line - I've just completed one for Augusto Dewey and Arron Wood, who are mid way through making a Kyalami track (sorry, I don't know which seasons it's for). Keep an eye out for it.

October 20, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing actually added today, but plenty updated. As you will know, many files here were linked to the old GP2.COM site, which has now moved to a new location, well I realised today that all those files from GP2.COM will no longer be working - they weren't, so I've gone through all the pages, F1, CART and BTCC changing all links, so every single one should work now! :) If you're wondering where that site (it's been mentioned enough!) has moved to, you can find it here: http://www.alphaf1.com/gp2/.

October 17, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I'm just updating the 1999 page with the results from Sepang, following Eddie Irvines great, but gifted win this morning. Michael Schumacher is back - what can we expect from him in Suzuka? I hope you've all tried out Mikael Olsson's latest Sepang track - if not, download it here.

Also, someone pointed out to me that I missed a couple of tracks out on some pages, so I've added Long Beach and Zandvoort to the 1978 - 1984 pages. If anyone else knows of any files that exist, and are missing here, please tell me which they are, and an address to download them from (please do *not* send the files themselves).

Also, someone sent me an URL-Submission two days ago, and I tried to reply to it, but the e-mail address was wrong, so please can Chris Neira get in contact with me, and leave the right e-mail address, thanks.

October 14, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Sorry for the lack of updates here (none for a week), but it isn't my fault! Nothing has been added to any major site, or sent to me of any relevance to this project, until now! Mikael Olsson sent me his latest version of Sepang (just in time for the GP!). You can download it at the F1 1999 and 2000 pages.

October 7, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Just adding Adalberto's brilliant Monaco '98 track, it really is exceptional. If you've seen the screenshots of GP3, you'll wonder if Adalberto used it! :) This new track can be found at the F1 1998 page. Also, the FIA have released the 2000 calander, so I've updated the F1 2000 page with those details.

You would've noticed me adding all of Arron Woods excellant menu helmet collections - they're very detailed. Well, he's run out of information/pictures for his next few sets, so he's asked me to ask you guys if you can help. Can you? He needs pictures of as many helmets from any season in the 1990's, even better if anyone has an official programme guide, look through them, to see if they have pictures of the helmets (Silverstone ones usually do). So if you can help, please send any pictures/information to Arron Wood's: arron_wood@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks.

October 4, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I've added some more new F1 menu helmets, sent in by Arron Woods, following on from the ones he released here a week or so ago. They're pretty good - check them out at the; 1998, 1997 and 1996 pages.

At The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project, I've added two new covers, both thanks to Jürgen again (actually from his friends). The new covers are from F1 Nürburgring 1998 and Hockenheim 1994.

October 2, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

As ever, not a lot has been added! Just two things; Derek Hicks' Nürburgring '99 track (that's put an end to Gabrieles name filling up the whole of the 1999 page!), and John Moncreiff sent me another of his great carshape updates, this time, he's updated the 1996 one.

September 30, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I've added Juha's latest F1 1999 carset, which was released today. Over at The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project, I've added another 4 covers, all from Jürgen, of all kinds of events (including superbikes) from Hockenheim. That was the last planned batch of covers he is sending me, but he is going to try to find some more! So fingers crossed! :)

September 29, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

No update here, but, as I said, Jürgen has sent me some more programme covers from Hockenheim (more to come soon!). So I've updated The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project at the GH page. Totally GP2-unrelated, but I got a domain name a couple of days ago! Yes, really! For my Drum 'n' Bass site, you can find it here: http://www.drumbass.co.uk/.

September 27, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

A little more added today; John Moncrieff sent me more carshapes - 1993, 1997 and another updated 1999 carshape collection. There should be a 1996 carshape on the way from him, so look out for that in the coming days. I also updated the F1 1999 page with the results from Nürburgring.

Over at The Grand Prix Programme Covers Project I've added three new covers, thanks to Jürgen, they are all from the German GP; 1995, 1996 and 1998. Jürgen should be sending me another 9 programme covers in the coming days, so look out for them - they'll be online as soon as I get them.

September 26, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

John Moncrieff today sent me his latest carshapes. His updated his 1999 set, with dramatically improved Sauber and Benetton cars. Check them out! He will also be sending me improved '93, '96, and '97 sets soon, too! :)

September 25, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Again, nothing much, just a new 1999 track, by Gabriele Moschetto, as usual. This time, it is a Hungaroring circuit completing his set, so far (I expect there will be a release of a Nürburgring track soon!).

September 21, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Nothing much, just a trackmap, but I'm grateful to be uploading that (I've beaten the major sites to it, at least!). It is from Donnington, 1993, and is made [and sent to me] by Gareth Strachan.

September 19, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Today was the last BTCC race weekend of the year season. Rydell won both the sprint and the feature race, which retained him his 3rd place in the championship, meanwhile, Aiello secured 1st place. So check out the BTCC 1999 page, which is now complete (apart from missing a carset and carshape). Also, I've added some new menu helmets, sent to me [and made] by Arron Woods. These can all be found at the F1 1989, 1992, 1999 pages. He should be sending more seasons soon, too!

September 18, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Finally, something to add; Monza '99 by Gabriele Moschetto, that can be found at the F1 1999 page. Hopefully something more soon, perhaps some trackmaps, etc. Send anything to my mailbox, and it'll be added that same night ... malcolm.mitchell1@virgin.net.

Someone suggested to me to use a URL redirection service, so it is easier to find this site. So, I've now got the URL http://gp2hist.gamespage.com/. I hope it makes it easier to reach the site. Be warned though, it comes up with an annoying new window with advertisements.

I've made an update to The Classic Ultima Track Project, so check that out. It contains information on the layout of the track - work should commence very soon! :)

September 16, 1999: news from Malcolm Mitchell

Yet again, nothing added, but a little bit of news (and some requests!). I just checked the stats, and I noticed this site had it's 19,000 visitor, (not a lot, I know, but anyway ...) took a while, but this site only averages 50 or 60 hits a day.

Now, my usual request, when things are going slow. Please, if anyone has any relevant files to this site, that aren't already listed, please do send them to me, as they'll be gratefully added that evening (I check every main GP2 site, and mailbox every day for new files). The same goes for programme covers, I'd love to be able to add to what is already the biggest collection on the Internet, so if anyone has any, then please send them, too (don't worry about scanning - the cover won't get damaged).

September 13, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

Still no files to add, but I've updated the CART 1999 page, with the results from Laguna Seca, which Bryan Herta won, and tributed to Rodriguez.

September 12, 1999: update by Malcolm Mitchell

I've only updated the 1999 season listings for F1, BTCC and CART, bringing them all up-to-date with the latest races. Tomorrow I'll update the CART page again, with the results from Laguna Seca, scene of Rodriguez fatal accident on Friday.

... check out some even older whatsnew here (right back to the beginning!) ...
