 A few rules:

If you want to contribute to this site by sending me a car or cockpit or anything else you made yourself, there are a few very simple rules I would like you to follow:

  • Only send stuff that is not already on the site, and that is a good contribution for others to make their game better. It's no use to send 100 ferrari's with only minor differences! think twice before sending me things: would you like to download a track which is totally undriveable?

  • Give credit to people whose work you use. This is very important! many people work hard to make nice things, and get really disappointed when they see others enhance their work without getting credit for the original.

  • Use a compression program like WinZIP to make the files you send me as small as can be and put all the files for one submission in one zipfile. (for sending jamfiles as with tracks, be sure to convert jams to jads which are a lot better compressable)

  • Write a proper gp2form.txt file with a good description of the files you submit and the way they can be used in GP2. Don't send me beautiful stories in Spanish or Finnish as most people can't read those languages. Have a look at this for an example of a good gp2form.txt as I once made it for one of my programs.

  • Don't send me files over 750 kb without asking first. I have a slow modem and it takes me quite some time to download my mail and upload the files to the site. If you have multiple zips to send me, send them on separate mails. I rather have two 500kb's than one 1000kb mail.

Attach the file to your mail and send it to me, Marc Aarts.

  • Don't send me mails with only zips and no text. I'm not a machine and I would like to know who these people are who send me stuff for others, and I would like to know what they are sending me. It's no fun getting zips only.

  • In your mail please mention:

    • Your name
    • Your e-mail address
    • A short description of the item you send me
This would all save me a lot of time! Thanks!

 Questions?

Some people seem to think I know everything about Grand Prix 2.

Well, I know a lot, but there are others that know a lot more! :-)

So to save me some time from answering a lot of E-mails, I would like to ask you to please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page first , before you send me any E-mail.

If you can't find your answer up there, there's always the possibility to post your question on the GrandPrix2.com Forum.

 Suggestions?

If you would like to make a suggestion and/or a comment on the site, you can send it to Marc Aarts.

 About the GP2 Form:

I noticed it's common to a lot of people to base there work on the artwork of others. Others that often worked hard on it.
This should be no problem in my opinion, as long as you clearly state on whose work you based your creation.
Unfortunately this doesn't happen all the time.

So there are some things I would like to introduce to the "GP2 world of Editing".

Together with James Ariz, Pieter created a GP Form.
This form contains information about the file it's added to, the author who created the file, and more, all in a standardized lay-out.
The intention of this form is that from now on, you add it to the ZIP file which contains your util, car, cockpit or anything else.
You can use it instead of the normal README, or you can use it as an additional file to your normal README.
Just fill in the questioned info and add it to the ZIP.

Download You can download the form, this info and an example of a filled in form of James Ariz's wheels which are included in Pieter's 1997 carset.

Let's all work on some mutual respect, and make sure everybody keeps enjoying creating things for this fantastic game!
